We've answered some commonly asked questions about our emergency care and emergency situations below for your convenience.
What should I do if I have a dental emergency?
Ring Absolute Smiles as soon as possible to make an appointment. Our dentists will diagnose the problem and provide personalised intervention.
What if I'm suffering from a toothache?
A toothache is a key indicator that something's not right, so if you're experiencing dental pain, please call us immediately. You can take over-the-counter painkillers in the meantime but, if left untended, the pain will only intensify and lead to further problems.
My gums are swollen - what does this mean?
If your gums are swollen, contact our team as soon as you can as this indicates an infection which requires immediate attention.
If my tooth is fractured, what's the best course of action?
Absolute Smiles can restore or repair fractured teeth, so give us a call and we'll arrange an appointment for you. The sooner you get in touch, the sooner we can help, but in the meantime, we advise you not to eat on the injured tooth and to keep it away from hot or cold temperatures. Ibuprofen and Paracetamol may help numb the pain in the short-term.
What happens if I lose a crown?
If your crown falls out and you still have it, simply bring it to us and we can replace it in your mouth. If you don't have the crown, we can make a new one for you. It's important to contact us as quickly as you can to avoid infection or further damage.
I've lost a tooth - what are my options?
If you lose a tooth through a sporting or other injury we can replace it, but you must call us immediately as it will need to be re-implanted at once. Keep handling of the tooth to a minimum to avoid damaging the root and DO NOT place it in water. Keep the tooth safe in cold milk or place it back in its socket and secure with a splint.
My dentures have been damaged - what do I do?
Absolute Smiles can repair broken dentures, so just give us a call. Please don't attempt to glue them yourself as this will only damage them further and will impede our repair work.
